This program of study is designed to allow licensed nurses who have not completed a baccalaureate degree to supplement their college education with two foundational courses, community health and leadership. Most nurses enrolled in this program are already practicing in managerial areas of health care and come to the program with a wealth of knowledge. This program honors and supplements their knowledge. Admission is based on transcript and resume review.
Course Descriptions
In addition to the core courses, the student enrolls in the following courses which are focus content for the R.N. to Nurse Administrator.
NUR 502 Community as Partner
Focuses on the partnership between nursing and the community in promoting health. It explores content areas basic to the practice of community health nursing; models of community assessment, data analysis, formulation of a community nursing diagnosis; and the planning, implementation, and evaluation of a community health promotion program. It concludes with an overview of the diverse nature in which nurses promote health in the community.

MGT 503 Management Theory and Application
Develops an understanding of the roles, responsibilities, and skills required of individual managers and non-managers in today's changing organization by analyzing a body of management theory and the practices of successful managers and organizations. This process will also develop an awareness of the environmental conditions and pressures facing today's managers. Students will become acquainted with the language of business management and the application of its concepts.

NUR 505 Human Resources Management
Provide students with a comprehensive and up-to-date introduction to Human Resource Management and HRM competencies and demonstrate how to successfully apply this knowledge.

NUR 535 Professional Nurse as Servant Leader
Examines a framework for advancing servant leadership in the nursing profession including a study of leadership theory and skills that are in dialogue with organizational culture. Decision-making skills based on Benedictine values and professional role development are integrated as the basis for leadership within professional, spiritual, religious, civic and global communities. Course is reading and writing intensive and learners will have opportunity for reflective self assessment and reflective critical synthesis of their own experiences of leading through service and serving through leading.

MGT 555 Managerial Finance
Analyze the relationship of the financial manager, the manager's organization, the financial markets, and the tax environment, as well as how to use time value of money valuation tools and risk and return valuation models. Focusing on the more technical or financial aspects of organizational life, the manager will be able to develop some measurable objectives by which to assess organizational goals.

MGT 575 Information Systems for Managers
Directly concerned with the management issues surrounding information and telecommunications systems, it presents the ingredients of management knowledge necessary for success in the management of information technology. This course views information technology from the perspective of managers at several levels--from the CEO to the first line manager. It provides frameworks and management principles that current or aspiring managers can employ to cope with the challenges inherent in the implementation of rapidly advancing technology.

MGT 610 Marketing
Introduce students to the area of marketing management and analysis of the domain of marketing, including theories of how marketing managers make decisions, appeal to consumers, and develop in unique marketing strategies. The managerial implications of these theoretical foundations will also be presented.

Relates communication theories to management theories. Analyze the flow and effectiveness of communication and develop effective change management plans.

Students are assigned to work as a professional performance consulting team. The students will work together in teams to determine specific goals, objectives, and outcomes for the study or assessment.
