Tom “Bones” Malone
Tom returns to the UMJF with a list of credits too numerous to mention. He can be seen nightly as a member of the CBS Orchestra (house band for the "David Letterman Show"). His movie credits include prominent roles in both "Blues Brothers" films, and he was a significant contributor to films such as "Sister Act," "Murder She Wrote" (TV), and numerous recordings with major artists including B.B. King, David Sanborn, Stanley Clarke, Frank Zappa, and Spyro Gyra.
Lenny Pickett
Lenny's work as a saxophonist is legendary due to his plethora of recordings with "Tower of Power" and as music director for the "Saturday Night Live" show, where he works with musicians of the highest caliber on a weekly basis. His last visit to the UMJF earned standing ovations after his very first tune.
Lisa Henry
Lisa is our most requested festival artist! Lisa sings like no other vocalist. This is her third festival performance and she returns to Bismarck following a trip to Washington D.C. where she performed at the White House.
Ruben Alvarez
A wild man on the Latin percussions! Ruben is a first-class entertainer and a dynamic percussionist who is in constant demand at IAJE and PASIC conventions. He is a great educator who creates inspiration. Do not miss his clinic session(s)!
Richard Torrance
With the emphasis on blues at the Friday evening Festival Concert, it is only natural that we invite Bismarck's own legendary guitarist to display his awesome "magic" with our esteemed artists. Richard is a gifted performer. Wear your seatbelt when you hear him on the Friday evening Festival Concert!
Everette Freeman, Jr.
Everette's "chops" have earned him international tours to the Netherlands, Germany, the West Indies, Brazil, Costa Rica, and Turkey. This is his third performance in Bismarck, but his first at the University of Mary Jazz Festival.
