Marc van Wageningen Marc was born and raised in Amsterdam and moved to the San Francisco Bay area in 1980. Over the years, Marc has had the opportunity to perform with a wide variety of artists including Tower of Power, George Duke, Stan Getz, and Ray Obiedo. He has recorded with Sheila E, Pete Escovedo, Dave Garibaldi and others. This is Marc's first appearance at the University of Mary Jazz Festival.
Nicolas Bearde Vocalist Nicolas Bearde is a supremely gifted singer and entertainer who is fluent in soul, jazz, and rhythm and blues stylings. Nicolas has worked with Patti Austin, Michael Bolton, and had a high-profile role with Bobby McFerrin's Voicestra of which Nicolas was a founding member. In addition, he has toured and recorded with Sovoso.
Jim Mair One of our favorite and most informative clinicians, Jim returns for an unprecedented fourth festival appearance. Jim heads the team of adjudicators and will present a very informative Directors Clinic Session which will be a "Do not Miss" event for all serious jazz pedagogues. In addition, Jim will perform with the University of Mary Jazz Ensemble as well as serving as a member of the Festival All-Stars.
David K. Mathews This fabulous keyboard artists returns for a second appearance at the University of Mary Jazz Festival. At age 23, Dave joined the legendary Oakland funk/soul group Tower of Power and currently tours with Grammy award-winner queen of rhythm and blues, Etta James. He has appeared on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, Jay Leno, the David Letterman Show and Austin City Limits.
Paul van Wageningen A remarkable drummer with the unique ability to perform virtually any Latin groove, Paul makes his second appearance at a University of Mary Jazz Festival. He is the first call for many recording artists including Andy Narell, Pete Escovedo, and Marc Russo. Even the Grateful Dead featured his talents.
