Respiratory Therapy Major Pre-Med Track
Students aspiring to become physicians can meet requirements for applying to medical school while completing the pre-respiratory therapy curriculum. The pre-med track entails an additional two semesters of organic chemistry and an additional semester of physics. An additional semester of biochemistry is recommended. The respiratory therapy undergraduate degree provides extensive patient-care experience and familiarity with the health care environment, giving medical school applicants an advantage, as well as a highly marketable health care credential. The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential is evidence of real-life familiarity with the patient-care environment; this gives medical school admissions committee members strong evidence of the applicant's interest in healthcare and motivation for pursuing a career in medicine.
