Major Course Requirements
Students are highly encouraged to pursue at least one year of a foreign language if they are considering graduate study.

HIS 471 (Indians in American History) and HIS 307 (Difference and Inequality) will fulfill the multicultural component.

Church History (THE 303) and North Dakota History (HIS 202) are highly recommended for all history majors.

PSY 332 (Child and Adolescent Psychology) is required for middle school endorsement. Students may wish to take Lifespan Development (PSY 207) during their second year after successfully completing General Psychology (PSY 201).

Transfer students need take only two PHI/THE classes if they transfer a minimum of 14 courses which, when combined with completed University of Mary offerings, total 56 semester hours of liberal arts training.

Foundations, Issues, and Trends (EDU 422) may be taken while student teaching.

Students must be admitted into the history education major prior to acceptance into the Division of Education. In addition, students must be admitted into the Division of Education before taking EDU 300-400 level classes.

History education majors should consider adding a SBS or POL minor.

Qualified students may take graduate classes to earn a middle school endorsement or North Dakota Reading Credential.
