I received my undergraduate degree in occupational therapy from the University of North Dakota. After working for six years in a mental health center in Omaha, NE, I decided to pursue my first love of working with children. I provided services to children with disabilities in a school district in Omaha, then moved back to North Dakota where I grew up. I was the occupational therapist in the West Fargo public schools for three years, then in the Moorehead, MN, public schools for nine years prior to coming to the University of Mary. During that time I worked with children from 3-21 years of age. I received my Master of Science degree in special education from Minnesota State University, Moorhead, in 1997, and a Ph.D. in education from the University of North Dakota in 2006. My special interests include: school-based practice, special education law, and early intervention and preschool services, as well as in assistive technology (AT). Currently, I teach most of the pediatric course work and an AT course for the OT students.
