Juno Pintar enters his fourth season at the helm of the University of Mary men's basketball program. His record at the University of Mary is 40-48. No stranger to the program, Pintar had served nine years previously as an assistant coach in the Marauders program. During that time, Pintar was instrumental in building the team's efficient offense, and he hopes to use his strong leadership skills to further develop the team's capabilities and guide the Marauders as they transition into NCAA Division II and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

Pintar is well known throughout North Dakota. In 1985, as a senior at Fargo North High School, he was named North Dakota's first "Mr. Basketball." He went on to become a starting guard for North Dakota State University from 1986-89.

Pintar earned his master's degree in special education from the University of Mary. He also serves as head men's and women's golf coach as well as teaching classes for the Division of Education. He and his wife, Kim, have a son, Jordan, and a daughter, Taylor.



Kevin Forde

Coach Forde enters his eleventh season as an NCAA Division II assistant coach, the third with the University of Mary. His previous stops were at Southwest Minnesota State University and at the University of Minnesota – Crookston.

Forde was at Southwest Minnesota State for five years, including four as an assistant coach under U-Mary alum Tim Miles and one for current head coach Greg Stemen. While as Southwest, Forde helped the team to the 2001 Northern Sun Conference and NCAA Regional Championships, as well as the first-ever trip to the NCAA Elite 8. In his five years at Southwest Minnesota State, the men’s basketball team compiled a 99-47 record. In 2002, Forde moved to the University of Minnesota – Crookston. During his three years there, Forde had many duties along with being men’s basketball assistant coach. He was intramural director, Space Committee representative, head softball coach, director of marketing and promotions, CAPA representative, and an instructor. In each of Forde's three years at UM - Crookston, the men’s basketball team showed steady improvement.


At U-Mary, Forde also serves as compliance officer for the NCAA. His basketball duties include coordinating recruiting, working with post players, game and practice planning, and public relations.

Forde and his wife Laura live in Bismarck and have two daughters, Isabelle and Addison.



Nate Welstad

Nate Welstad begins his fourth year as a member of the Marauder coaching staff. He is responsible for coordinating the Marauders' defense, game planning for upcoming opponents, developing practice plans, and working with our point guards.

Welstad was a standout player for the University of Mary from 1998-2002. After graduation, he spent one year as an assistant coach at Glenburn High School before returning to the University of Mary to pursue a master's degree.
