HSL 110 Developing the Leader Within You This course is designed for students to explore and strengthen both professional and servant leadership skills. 1 credit HSL 120 Principles, Values, and Ethics This course provides students exposure to formal definitions of principles, values, and ethics and how these critical issues relate to human service professions. Students will practice acquired ethical decision-making skills by working in teams to solve ethical dilemmas. 1 credit HSL 210 Communication and Team Building This course allows students to identify and practice collaborative leadership skills important in enhancing client, co-worker, and employer relationships. Special emphasis will be placed on qualities of effective teams, establishing strategies to avoid dysfunctional teams, conflict resolution, and multigenerational work teams. 1 credit
HSL 220 Servant Leadership The focus of this course will be on the enhancement of service-leadership skills as the future human service professionals interact with those they serve. Special emphasis will be placed on issues of diversity and cultural immersion. 1 credit HSL 310 Entrepreneurship and Innovation This course challenges the future human service leader to become a positive change agent by exploring opportunities to incorporate innovative thinking and entrepreneurial objectives into their future profession. 1 credit HSL 320 Best Practices This course introduces students to the best practices of human service leaders. It challenges the student to become a reflective thinker while developing his or her professional goals. 1 credit
HSL 410 Personal Definition of Leadership In this capstone course, students summarize competencies related to program outcomes and prepare for career/graduate school entry. 1 credit
