Expectations for student conduct reflect the university's Christian, Catholic, and Benedictine traditions and values. Consistent with the philosophy of educating the "whole person," there is an intentional emphasis on moral and ethical development for the purpose of helping students discern an appropriate balance between freedom and responsibility to God, family, self, and community.
"Therefore we intend to establish a school for the Lord's service. In drawing up its regulations, we hope to set down nothing harsh, nothing burdensome. The good of all concerned, however, may prompt us to a little strictness in order to amend faults and to safeguard love."

The University of Mary Student Handbook is published to provide students with information about policies and expectations for student conduct (both on and off campus). It also outlines the student discipline process. Upon enrollment, it is the responsibility of each student to be familiar with the handbook and the information in it.
