In 1998 the University of Mary dedicated the Welder Library, named for Sister Thomas Welder, president of the University of Mary from 1978 to date.
Welder Library seats 204 and holds approximately 70,000 volumes. In addition, there is an extensive collection of DVDs, videocassettes, compact discs and audiobooks. The library subscribes to over 600 periodicals and newspapers as well as numerous full-text indexes. This facility also provides classrooms, a computer laboratory, and faculty offices.
The location of materials is easily determined through the use of INFO*LYNX, an online catalog. INFO*LYNX is a combined listing of the materials of the Welder Library, Bismarck Public Library, Mandan Public Library, United Tribes Technical College, and 10 other area libraries.
Welder Library participates in state, regional, national, and international networks that provide access to resources not available locally. Free interlibrary loan is provided to all students, faculty, and staff.
A link to the library's electronic interlibrary loan system (ILLiad) is available on the Welder Library Catalog screen under the "Interlibrary Loan" tab. Following the onscreen instructions you can establish an account, view request status, and print electronically received articles. A link to ILLiad is also provided from the library's journal databases (Request this item).
