The University of Mary’s Master of Science programs in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling have received specialized accreditation through the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).

North Dakota Education Standards and Practices Board

The Department of Education is accredited by the North Dakota Education Standards and Practices Board. The Department of Education has met all standards set forth by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) adopted by the North Dakota Education Standards and Practices Board (ESPB). The last review occurred in March 2021 and the University of Mary’s Education programs received full continued accreditation by the ND ESPB.

The Occupational Therapy Doctoral program at the University of Mary is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). The master?s degree program has applied for accreditation and has been granted Candidacy Status by ACOTE. The program must have a preaccreditation review, complete an on-site evaluation, and be granted Accreditation Status before its graduates will be eligible to sit for the national certification examination for the occupational therapist administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care logo

The University of Mary Respiratory Therapy BSRT Program CoARC #200133, and Respiratory Therapy MSRT Program CoARC #220133 is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (www.coarc.com).

The University of Mary Respiratory Therapy RRT-BSRT Program CoARC #510018 holds Provisional Accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (www.coarc.com).

CoARC accredits respiratory therapy education programs in the United States. To achieve this end, it utilizes an ‘outcomes-based’ process. Programmatic outcomes are performance indicators that reflect the extent to which the educational goals of the program are achieved and by which program effectiveness is documented. Master of Social Work

The University of Mary's Master of Social Work degree is currently in pre-candidacy for accreditation by the Council on Social Work Education’s (CSWE) Board of Accreditation (BOA).

Pre-candidacy for a baccalaureate or master’s social work program by the BOA indicates that it submitted an application to be reviewed for candidacy and received approval of its Benchmark 1 from CSWE accreditation staff to move forward for a candidacy review within 1-year. A program that has attained pre-candidacy status has not yet been reviewed by the BOA nor verified to be compliant with the Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards (EPAS). 

Students that are admitted to pre-candidate programs in the fall (or later) of the academic year in which the program is granted candidacy status will be retroactively recognized as graduates from a CSWE-BOA accredited program as long as the program attains initial accreditation. Candidacy is typically a 3-year process and attaining pre-candidacy does not guarantee that a program will eventually attain candidacy and initial accreditation. 

Pre-candidacy applies to all program options, which includes locations and delivery methods. 

Accreditation provides reasonable assurance about the quality of the program and the competence of students graduating from the program.
