University of Mary Earns Prestigious National Recognition for Cybersecurity Excellence

BISMARCK, ND — The University of Mary has been awarded the highly sought-after National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) designation by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), a recognition that solidifies the university’s reputation as a national leader in cybersecurity education.
This distinction places the University of Mary among an elite group of institutions that meet the rigorous standards set by the NSA and DHS for cybersecurity education. It underscores the university’s commitment to producing highly skilled professionals who are equipped to defend critical information infrastructure in an increasingly complex digital landscape.
National Recognition for Excellence in Cyber Defense
The NSA’s recognition of the University of Mary’s cybersecurity program is a testament to the institution’s commitment to developing the next generation of cyber defenders. In an official confirmation letter, Renae Weathers, National CAE program manager at the NSA, emphasized the importance of higher education in addressing the national cybersecurity workforce shortage.
“The University of Mary’s ability to meet the increasing demands of the CAE-CD program criteria will serve the nation well in contributing to the protection of the National Information Infrastructure,” said Weathers. “A highly skilled cybersecurity workforce is a strategic national security advantage, and the U.S. government will continue to invest in programs that build the domestic talent pipeline. Education is the key to promoting these ideals.”
