UMary’s Narbuvoll Named NCAA D2 Scholar Track Athlete of the Year, Marauders Track & Field Teams Earn All-Academic Team Honors
NEW ORLEANS – In a year of tremendous accomplishments for Ida Narbuvoll, the two-time University of Mary national champion added another program first to her portfolio. Narbuvoll was selected the 2021 NCAA Division II Women’s Outdoor Track & Field National Scholar Track Athlete of the Year by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
This is the first time a UMary scholar-athlete has earned the award.
Today’s USTFCCCA release stated “Ida Narbuvoll was named the NCAA Division II Women’s Outdoor Track & Field National Scholar Track Athlete of the Year. Narbuvoll, who maintained a cumulative GPA of 4.0, won the 5000 meters and 10,000 meters at the 2021 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Allendale, Michigan. The native of Norway won the 10,000 and the 5,000 meter runs at the 2021 NCAA outdoor championships, breaking a 36-year meet record in the 5K by over 20 seconds and now owns the second-best mark ever recorded in Division II history. A three-time NSIC Athlete of the Week in 2021 who won all eight times she raced this spring, Narbuvoll is a 9-time All-American.
The Marauders also received academic team honors and ten scholar-athletes garnered individual recognition for their achievements in the classroom and in competition.
