Put a smile on people’s faces with compassionate oral health care. Practice in one of the most flexible, dynamic careers in the medical field.

What You’ll Learn

You’ll gain a strong background in biology and the sciences in the 10-course pre-dental concentration. Although this concentration can be taken with any Mary undergraduate program, the majority of our students major in biology.

Conduct Research

You’ll have opportunities to participate in research seminars, training, and other experiences that will help prepare you for dental school and beyond.

Gain Real-world Experience

In the pre-dentistry practicum, you’ll work with a local dentist, observing all aspects of a dental practice. Plus, gain hands-on experience by assisting dental hygienists, dental assistants, and dentists with a variety of procedures.

Be Mentored by Experienced Faculty in Small-class Settings

Work closely with caring and experienced faculty who bring real-world expertise to their classes.

Careers & Outcomes

Employment Trends

As reported in the American Dental Education Association (ADEA), dentistry is regularly listed among the top fields in the country. The ADEA projects increased demand for dentists due to changes in health care laws and the expected retirement of a large group of dental professionals who entered the field in the 1960s and 1970s.

Career Paths

This degree will act as a stepping stone for me to work my way to dental school and eventually becoming a dentist and owning my own practice. I would recommend this degree to anyone thinking of dental school, it helps greatly with understanding the material on the DAT and it taught me the best way for me to learn.
